What I Wore in Amsterdam
What I Wore in Amsterdam. Being the local I was (for five days) — I decided to take pages from their fashion books. In Amsterdam, and I’m sure the rest of Europe, they take athleisure to an entirely new level. Because everyone over there walks or bikes, footwear NEEDS to be comfortable.
I’d see shoes that look like professional loafers, but the soles would be thick and made of rubber. I met a pair of sparkly Converse that were to die for and low block heels I couldn’t get over.
There was a woman at #WEAmsterdam wearing the most beautiful red and white sling-backs. I stopped her mid-walk, “Your outfit is on point. And those shoes — what brand are they?” Haha, she must have laughed to herself inside her head and thought “silly American,” because she replied with, “from France” and stopped there.

In addition to the coolest comfy-chic walking shoes you’ll ever see … you see A LOT of stark, all-white kicks. And the people in Amsterdam pair white kicks with any and every look.
Casual work dress? Add a pair of fresh white kicks, leather jacket, a POP of lip color, some stunna shades and BAM — there you have yourself a nice outfit.
Have some black slack pedal pushers and a crisp button down blouse? Slide on a pair of white tennie’s, grab a leather satchel bag and voilia! you have yourself the look of an Amsterdam-local.
Got rompers? Of any kind — long sleeve, short-sleeve, entire bodysuit … pair that piece with a pair of bright white sneaks and POOF = instantly chic.
Here’s my look from Saturday’s museum and shopping adventure. I did actually pack my pair of electric white, Steven by Steve Madden flat forms I found at Macy’s for $15 dollars; BUT I’m still breaking those babies in and I knew I was going to be walking around ALL DAY … and choose these black leather Report Shoes slip ons instead.
The shoes are Report Footwear, sunglasses are Ray Ban, jeans are from H&M, the white tee is from the (now closed, RIP) American Apparel, this cross body is almost-vintage Guess and the coat is a second hand purchase via Those White Walls (Thanks, girl! I wear this ALL THE TIME!).
